Manipur cabinet okays ongoing allotment process of land for the development of water body at Lamphelpat area.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh chaired state cabinet meeting on Monday evening and minutely discussed the ongoing allotment of land process for the development of water body at Lamphelpat area for conservation of water to prevent recurrence of frequent flood in and around Imphal areas.
Lamphelpat, an important wetland on the north western part of greater Imphal area which plays a vital role as a natural reservoir during monsoon, is now occupied by government offices resulting in the significant reduction of the size of the wetland.
The cabinet meeting which was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar also decided to complete the process of allotment of the 442.24 acres of land which is currently available for the development of water body within a week.
Of these areas of 442.24 acres, another land measuring an area of 91.24 acres of land has already been allotted to water resources department for the purpose and 351 acres of land presently occupied by three government departments would be transferred to the water resources department.
Public works minister Th Biswajit, revenue minister Karam Shyam, health minister L Jayentakumar, tribal affairs minister N Kayisii, forest minister Th Shyamkumar, sports minister Letpao Haokip, social welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen besides state Chief Secretary RR Rashmi led state officials also attended the cabinet meeting.
Manipur cabinet also approved the payment of Rs 32,42,300 as compensation to 10 victims during the violent incidents at Nungei area which occurred on April 11, 2016.
On the other hand the cabinet also agreed for the creation of two temporary supernumerary post of OSD (Forest and Environment), Government of Manipur at PCCF (Apex) Scale and one post of OSD (GAD) at APCCF Scale as Ex-Cadre post for Indian Forest Service (IFS) under the Indian Forest Service (Cadre) Regulations, 1966. The cabinet also gave approval for the creation of four temporary posts of Additional Director General of Police in the Manipur Police Department.
It also gave its nod to complete the DPC proceedings for direct recruitment of 20 vacant posts of primary teachers in respect of meritorious sportspersons under department of education. The cabinet also agreed to the proposal for modification of the present warrant of precedence in Manipur.
