Assam finance minister and North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced that the BJP would get 9 to 11 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls in Assam.

While addressing a day-long special rally of BJP Tea Morcha workers at Bokakhat public playground in Golaghat district of Assam, minister Sarma said in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls the BJP along with its allies of NEDA will get total 19 to 21 seats out of the total 25 seats across the Northeast.

Besides minister Sarma, the rally was also attended by Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Daas, BJP’s Assam in-charge Mahendra Singh and Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

The rally was aimed at making the party’s presence felt among the tea communities ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

The welcome address was delivered by BJP Tea Morcha president Prahlad Goala.

Mahendra Singh, while lauding the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the state, highlighted the schemes taken up by the BJP government for the benefit of the tea communities in Assam.

He also urged the tea community people to help Modi form government at the Centre again.

While delivering his speech, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said Modi will again come to power and appealed to the people belonging to the tea communities to vote the BJP to power.

Sonowal thanked the tea communities of Assam for opening 8 lakh bank accounts within a short period responding to the call made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
