Leading fashion design houses like Christian Siriano, Brandon Maxwell Studios and Prada are working on providing personal protective equipments (PPE) to the medical staff.

In an Instagram post, Maxwell stated, “In response to this global crisis, we are now focusing our creative efforts on manufacturing PPEs starting with gowns. We have spent the last week researching the appropriate medical textiles to create these gowns and are proud to provide these much needed items to the doctors and nurses on the front lines of this crisis.”

Sharing prorotypes of some masks on Twitter, Siriano stated, “If we need masks my team can make them! I have sewers and pattern makers ready to help working from home.”

As per reports, Prada is also expected to make over 1 lakh masks and 80000 overalls in its factory in Itaaly.

With the massive outbreak of coronavirus globally, demand of PPEs have only grown higher with each passing day.

The Indian government has recently listed masks and hand sanitizers under the Essential Commodities Act 1955 in order to ensure that its availability is met during these hard times.
