The Kokrajhar District Committee of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in association with Kokrajhar Anchalik Committee of ABSU, held a meeting on social evils in Kokrajhar on Friday.

The meeting was participated by district committees of several Bodo social organizations including religious organizations and held at the office premises of Kokrajhar Anchalik Committee ABSU in Kokrajhar Town.

The participants deliberated on various social issues prevailing particularly the in Bodo community.

The meeting was led by Janak Uzir, president of Kokrajhar district committee of ABSU as chairperson.

Several valuable speeches were presented by the leaders who participated on behalf their organizations.

Swndwn Brahma, general secretary of the Kokrajhar District Committee of ABSU said that after a long discussion on issues concerned, two resolutions were adopted in the meeting.

He said that it was jointly resolved that all social organizations including the religious based organizations under Kokrajhar district should unitedly work for the eradication of social evils like witch hunting, child marriage, superstitious belief, use of alcohol, gambling, drug abuse amongst students and the likes.

Further, the meeting also resolved that this kind of meetings based on social issues be organized frequently at different places under Kokrajhar district to be participated by all social organizations including the religious based organizations under Kokrajhar district, Brahma added.

Nagen Brahma, general secretary of Kokrajhar District Rhritic Sanmiloni; Sobaram Boro, general secretary of Kokrajhar District Boro Somaj; Baneswar Basumatary, president of Kokrajhar District Bodo Sahitya  Sabha; Janak Basumatary, secretary of All Bodo Catholic Welfare  Association; Jageswar Brahma, vice president of All Bodo Cultural Association; Tikendra Basumatary, president of Kokrajhar District All Bathou Association; Jayanta Kachari, secretary of Kokrajhar District Brahma Religious Association among others were present in the meeting.
