A thirteen-year-old girl, who was allegedly kidnapped from Guwahati four days back, has been rescued from Patamari village under Dhubri Police Station, located near the Indo-Bangla border.
The minor, who is a resident of Sijubari Khankah Pakija Path under Hatigoan Police Station , was kidnapped on July 14, 2018 and was rescued on Wednesday but the accused, who has been identified as 30-year-old Hafizul, a resident of Patamari village located along the Indo-Bangla border under Dhubri district, has now been absconding.
The accused had allegedly kidnapped the minor girl with false promise of marrying her, said the Officer-in-Charge of Dhubri Police Station.
Police sources said, “Following a police complaint (no 497/2018) lodged by the family members of the 13-year-old girl at Hatigoan Police Station in Kamrup (Metro) district, which was registered under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), a probe was launched and on Tuesday late night, Dhubri police received information that the girl was spotted in an area that falls under Dhubri Police Station and accordingly, police successfully rescued the abducted girl from Patamari village today.”
