A six-year old Kendriya Vidyalaya student was abducted by unknown miscreants and later rescued by Assam Police at Silchar on Saturday.  Anish Deb who is studying in Class I of Kendriya Vidyalaya, NIT, Silchar was kidnapped by miscreants in the wee hours of Saturday. He was found at 5.30 in the morning at an abandoned lavatory about 100 metres from his house with his mouth, hands and eyes tied.

Police jumped into action after Anish’s father Asim Deb lodged an FIR that his son was missing from 3.45 am on Saturday. The FIR was filed at 4.30 in the morning at Ghungoor Outpost under Silchar Police Station.

52 years old Deb is a Grade IV employee working at the residence of Vice Chancellor of Assam University and a resident of Fakirtilla on the outskirts of Silchar town.

Cachar SP Rakesh Roshan leading the operation along with Additional SP (HQ), rushed to the spot while alerting all OCs and ICs to keep a watch and track all movements.

During search operation, police party heard sounds of a child crying at an abandoned house approximately less than 100 metres from the house of Asim Deb. The search party upon entering the abandoned house found Anish inside the bathroom with eyes & mouth tied with pieces of cloth.

The abandoned house wherein Anish was kept was that of an employee of NIT who took loan from the bank close to 25 years back but left it at that time as he failed to repay the loan and the bank has henceforth taken possession of it.

According to Asim Deb, miscreants entered his house by cutting the wire of the window and kidnapped his son.

Speaking to Northeast Now, Anish’s mother Jhuma Deb said, “I got up from bed at around 3 in the morning and after attending to nature’s call, slept once again. Everything was fine but at around 3:45, I heard a creaking sound and jumped from bed to see that the mosquito net is raised and Anish was missing alongawith my mobile.”

A student of Class I, Anish too described as to what exactly had happened with him. “He took me in his lap and straight away headed for a house where he tied my mouth, eyes and hands and asked me not to shout or scream otherwise he would shoot me,” Anish said.

One Bishnu Goala, a history-sheeter, is suspected behind the crime. Bishnu came out of jail just a month back and is the prime accused, but is absconding from the scene of this incident.

“We would be able to catch hold of him very shortly and then the motive of this crime can be learnt. He too can give us answers of involvement of any other in this crime,” SP Rakesh Roshan said.

The miraculous rescue of the 6-year-old boy is the talk of the town today, but all eyes would be now upon the police authorities as to how sooner they can arrest the culprits.
