Diphu district committee (DDC) of Semson Teron faction of Karbi Students Association (KSA) on Thursday demanded apology from Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang for attacking KSA president Semson Teron with heated words.

The CEM reportedly threatened him after a KSA meeting at Hawaipur on April 15.

In a press meet held at Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) office, in Diphu on Thursday, the DDC, president, Endarson Kro said a meet on Citizenship Amendment Bill was held at Hawaipur on April 15 in West Karbi Anglong.

“In a meeting at Hawaipur our president Semson Teron has not took the name of CEM Tuliram Ronghang. He said the CEM and executive members (EMs) of KAAC’s attitude towards corruption and lack of courage to exercise their powers are like wild boars. CEM, Tuliram Ronghang in a call to KSA president Teron had called him names. CEM threatened to slap him and sent his men to beat him (Teron) up,” Kro said.

Kro also said on April 16, the CEM himself along with more than 400 people were waiting at an IB at Kolonga, while few others were sent to Teron’s residence at Kolonga to get him.

Kro said in his conversation the CEM claimed to have given Rs 20,000 towards performing chojun – a Karbi traditional ceremony to Semson Teron and financial aid to his brother when his sister-in-law (brother’s wife) was ill.

Kro further said the CEM’s salary is only Rs 35,000 and with that he cannot afford to give Rs 20,000 to Teron and his relatives.

Kro said attacking the KSA president means insulting the KSA and the CEM should apologize for it. If any untoward incident happens to Semson Teron, then the CEM will be responsible, he added.
