Justice (retired) Ajay Kumar Tripathi died of a massive cardiac arrest on Saturday at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Justice Tripathi had tested positive for COVID-19 last month, following which he was admitted at AIIMS since April first week.

died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Saturday, official sources said. Justice AK Tripathi, 62, breathed his last around 9 pm at AIIMS Trauma Centre in New Delhi.

Justice Tripathi was a judicial member of Lokpal and former Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court.

Late Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi was born on November 12, 1957, and he did his graduation in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce.

He studied law at Campus Law Centre, Delhi University and he began the practice of law at Patna High Court.

He was elevated as an Additional Judge Patna High Court on October 9, 2006, and he took oath as Permanent Judge of the High Court on November 21, 2007.

He was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court on July 7, 2018.

On March 27, 2019, Justice Tripathi took oath as a Judicial Member of Lokpal of India.

He played an important role in setting up the Institution of Lokpal of India with his innovative ideas and inputs.
