The Union Minister of State (MoS) for Defence Dr Subhash Bhamre as part of his visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday visited Dao Division headquarters at Dinjan.
He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan, General Officer Commanding, spear corps and other senior officers of Indian army.
The Defence minister was briefed by Major General Gajinder Singh, General Officer Commanding, Dao Division on the situation and defence preparedness along the Line of Actual Control, progress of infrastructure deployment and insurgency situation of the region.
The Junior Defence Minister later visited the heritage hall at Dinjan which showcase the glorious past of Dao Division and rich heritage and culture of Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
On Tuesday, the Defence Minister arrived in Dibrugarh at Mohanbari airport and after that flew to Roing in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh where he inaugurated two bridges.
Out of the two, he first inaugurated the Injupani Bridge, a 140 metre long bridge on Roing-Koronu-Paya road, which is a part of Trans Arunachal Highway. The completion of the Injupani Bridge would provide an uninterrupted access between Roing and Tezu, both important district headquarter in Arunachal Pradesh.
After that the Defence minister inaugurated the Deopani/Eze Bridge, which is 300 metre long pre-stressed concrete balanced cantilever bridge over the Eze river at Roing in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Defence minister later praised the commendable work being done by Project Udayak of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in this region.
He appreciated the timely completion of these crucial bridges, which would provide round the year connectivity to the strategic Dibang valley bordering China.
Lt Gen SK Shrivastava, Director General of Border Roads brought out the hurdles faced by the BRO in the forms of turbulent flash floods and difficulty in sinking of well foundation in the bouldery river bed.
