Indian Army hosts weapon display in Assam’s Jorhat to commemorate 25 yrs of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Guwahati: In celebration of the silver jubilee of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ and commemorating the selfless service of the fallen heroes of the 1999 war, the Indian Army on Friday (July 19) hosted a spectacular display of its weapons and equipment at the Mariani Military Station in Assam’s Jorhat district.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of school children from several schools and colleges of the district besides the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, defence PRO, Mahendra Rawat, said in a press statement.

The visitors were thrilled and excited by the impressive showcase of weapons, artillery guns, and state-of-the-art technology of the Indian Army inventory, it said.

The event also featured interactions of students with the Army officers and Jawans thus providing them an insight to military life, and inspiring the youth to join the armed forces, it added.

To commemorate the valiant sacrifice of the fallen heroes, a movie on the Kargil war was also screened for the students during the occasion, it said.

The event, highly appreciated by the visitors, left a lasting impact on the youth and a desire in them to serve the nation, it added.
