India Club, a historic and socio-literary organisation in oil city Digboi, is all set to host a State level Centenary Quiz Festival 2018 at Digboi on January 20, 2018 at the India Club auditorium.

The open quiz competition, organised in association with the Lion’s Club of Digboi and Digboi Quiz Forum, would be held in two different categories including open general quiz and written quiz on music and Assam. The winners will be awarded cash prizes.

According to the organising committee, there will be cash prize of Rs 35,000 for both the categories with breakups of Rs 10,000, Rs 8000 and Rs 6000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the general category while Rs 9000 for the winners in the written quiz.

Each team will comprise two-member teams or less while two final spots reserved for top school teams in the finals.

The action would pick up at 1 pm after completion of the registration process that is slated to start by 12 pm on Saturday at the office of the India Club located near Digboi Army Camp beside the UBI Bank.

According to Shakya Shamik Kar Khaund, the secretary of Digboi Quiz Forum, which is coordinating the event, told the media here that India Club, being the heritage centre of different literary activities in Digboi, has been actively promoting the cause of education, culture, socio-economy and other vital branches of knowledge.

It may be mentioned that Khaund, who would conduct the event as the quiz master, was the former Quiz Club president at Hindu College and Ambedkar University in New Delhi besides being an active quizzer in the New Delhi quiz circuit. He is a healthy output of Digboi Club in its endeavour to provide an adequate platform for the budding talents.
