The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, thunder squall, lightning and heavy falls at isolated places in Northeast India from March 29-April 2.
“Under the influence of strong lower level southwester lies from the Bay of Bengal, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/thunder squall/lightning and heavy falls at isolated places are likely over March 29 to April 2 with maximum activity during March 30-31, 2021,” the IMD said in a press release issued on Thursday.
In its forecast and warning for the next five days, the IMD said: “Isolated to scattered rainfall activity is likely during March 25-27 and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity during March 28-29 in the Northeastern states.”
The IMD has predicted light rain/thundershower at isolated places in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya from March 26-27.
The meteorological department, which has predicted dry weather on May 26 for four Northeast states including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, forecast light rain/thundershower at isolated places in these Northeast states.
On March 29, light to moderate rains/thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, the IMD mentioned.
According to the forecast, on March 28, thunderstorms/lightning with gusty wind at a speed of 30-40 kmph will hit isolated places of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
On March 29, thunderstorms/lightning with gusty wind at a speed of 30-40 kmph will hit isolated places in the Northeast states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
