The Indian Institute of Management – Shillong got its new director with the appointment of Prof. D.P. Goyal.

Presently, Prof Goyal is serving as the dean and Professor of Management at Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon.

The Indian Institute of Management – Shillong through the chairperson of the Board of Governors, Shishir Bajoria announced the appointment of the new director.

“I am indeed delighted to convey that Prof. D.P. Goyal was the unanimous choice of the Search-cum-Selection Committee and the BoG. There were 88 applicants, from all over the country, showing the popularity and image of IIM Shillong,” Bajoria said in a statement.

Goyal did his Ph.D from Kurukshetra University in Management and Information Systems and is presently the Dean, MDI, Gurgaon. He has over more than 20 Years of Teaching Experience at Thapar Institute of Technology, Punjabi University, IMT, Ghaziabad and MDI, Gurgaon.

IIM Shillong in Meghalaya was set up with a vision of providing good quality management education and research in the Northeast India.

The decision of setting up an Indian Institute of Management in the Northeast was unanimously taken by the Union minister of human resource development along with the chief ministers of the northeastern states in a review meeting held at Shillong in June, 2004.

Located in the green contours of the northeastern part of the country, IIM Shillong commenced operations in 2008.

The institute remains committed to its goal of excellence in management education and research so as to evolve into a nationally and internationally recognised educational institution.

The Indian Institute of Management – Shillong  is governed by a Board of Governors and is managed by several executive committees, finance committee and a grievance committee.
