The Dalgaon Police in Darrang district on Sunday managed to recover a huge consignment of stolen hair oil kept hidden in No 5 Baruajhar village under Dalgaon Police Station.
According to Jagadish Sharma, Officer-in-Charge of Dalgaon Police Station, acting on an intelligence input, a total of 674 stolen cartons of hair oil (Bajaj Almond Drops) have been recovered from the courtyard of one Matlib Ali of No 5 Baruajhar village under the police station.
However, the accused, Matlib Ali, managed to escape during the operation.
A truck, bearing registration No AS-11AC-3725, which had loaded with 960 cartons of Bajaj Almond Drops from its factory at Gouripur in Kamrup (Rural) district, reportedly went missing along with its driver Saddam Husain on the way to the godown of the company in Guwahati some days ago.
In this connection, on the basis of a police complaint, Jalukbari Police in Guwahati registered a case (No 246 /18) and earlier conducted raids in different places under Dalgaon Police Station including Daipam, Besimari and Baruajhar.
Jalukbari Police was able to nab two persons but managed to recover only seven cartons of the hair oil.
Dalgaon Police took the matter seriously and started investigation into the case on its own engaging few secret agents and laid traps to nab the prime accused. Eventually, Dalgaon Police came out successful in recovering more than seventy per cent of the stolen hair oils. But the prime accused in the case are still absconding.
