The Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examination 2018, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), began on Monday with 28,024 students appearing in the examinations.

The examinations, held across 91 examination centres in 14 districts of the State, will continue till March 28.  Compared to last year, the number of students appearing in the examinations has increased by 2000 this year, informed official sources.

Official sources at Imphal said that 16,768 students from non-government Higher Secondary schools, 7,178 students from government Higher Secondary schools, 3973 students from non-government colleges, 51 students from government colleges and 54 students from private institutions have appeared in the Class XII examinations.

Sources also informed, out of the total 20,327 students appearing in the Science stream, 10,729 are male students and 9598 are female students. Similarly, out of 7190 students appearing in the Arts stream, 3555 are male and 3635 are female students, while out of the total 507 students appearing in the Commerce stream, 282 are male and 225 are female students. Out of the total students, only 25,791 are regular students.

On the occasion of the examinations, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Education Minister Th Radheshyam conveyed their best wishes to the students of the State who are appearing in the HSSLC Examinations 2018 and those candidates who will appear in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination. Bot the CM and the Education Minister have urged the students to give their best and not to resort to any unfair means.

It may be mentioned that the HSLC Examination (Class X) and Class XI Examinations 2018 will commence from February 20 to March 17 and February 20 to March 29 respectively. The results of Class XII Examination are expected to be declared within a month.
