The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur PK Singh on Friday said that contraband items worth Rs 37.55 crore have been seized in the state till now ever since the announcement of elections on March 10.
Reports quoted Singh as saying that that the seized amount is the highest in the entire northeastern region.
He also said that the amount of money seized in Manipur is twice more than the amount seized in Assam.
Singh also added that the final voting percentage of the two Lok Sabha seats in Manipur is 82.75 per cent.
The CEO also said that there has been an increase of 2.67 per cent in this year’s Lok Sabha elections as compared to the last one.
The Senapati district of Manipur recorded the highest voter turnout with 92.74 per cent and Jiribam the lowest with 68.21 per cent.

Altogether 16,04,659 voters of the total 19,39,244 electors of the state cast their vote; he said adding that the turnout of female voters is comparatively higher than that of male voters.
Regarding the complaints received by the CEO office and returning officer about booth capturing in the inner seat election on April 18, the CEO asserted that the RO will definitely send a recommendation to Election Commission of India (ECI) for fresh poll at 6/10 and 6/20 at Kyamgei.
He also added that re-polling is likely to be held on April 22.
As many as 12 persons including two polling officials were injured as violent incidents were reported in some polling stations where voting for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency was held on Thursday.
Incidents of ransacking a polling station and clashes among the workers of BJP and Congress were reported in some polling stations in Imphal East district.
In a polling station at Kiyamgei Leikai under Thongju Assembly segment of Imphal East district, security personnel guarding the polling station had to resort to blank fire after a large number of people stormed and ransacked the polling booth including the EVMs.
The mob reportedly stormed the station after male security personnel allegedly frisked women voters while entering the booth casting their votes.
