Noonmati police arrested one auto rickshaw driver for allegedly assaulting a minor girl at Noomati area of Guwahati on Thursday evening at around 5:30 pm.
The 53-year-old accused has been identified as Keshab Das.
The officer in charge of Noonmati police station Chidananda Bora, talking to Northeast Now over phone, said, “The victim alleged that she was inappropriately touched by the autorickshaw driver while she got into the vehicle.”
Bora also informed that the incident took place at Haripur in Noonmati area.
“The family of the victim and the driver – both are neighbours, ” added Bora.
The victim is a 16-year-old minor.
Meanwhile, a case (No 527/2018) under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code and 10 of POSCO has been registered at the Noonmati police station.
The accused has been sent to judicial custody after being produced in the court on Friday.
