Google News Initiative in partnership with DataLEADS, has announced an open registration for a special webinar series COVID-19: DEALING WITH MISINFORMATION DURING THE PANDEMIC to support journalists covering COVID-19 outbreak in India.

These webinars series is being hosted in different regional languages to help local journalists and fact-checkers with key skills and strategies to identify and stop the spread of fake news, rumours and misinformation around COVID-19 pandemic.

The webinar series is a part to combat misinformation and rumours and the training will be conducted by the Google News Initiative India Training Network trainers in different Indian languages to benefit local journalists.

Since 2018 the Google News Initiative India Training Network focused on online verification and fact-checking, has trained 15,600+ editors, reporters, media educators and journalism students in at least 10 languages across India, benefiting hundreds of newsrooms and educational institutes.

The webinars will cover time-saving methods to verify the authenticity and accuracy of images, videos and reports that you find in social media and elsewhere online about COVID-19.

Each webinar will of one-hour duration.
