A two-day workshop on “Fluorescence and Confocal Microscopy” was organised by the Department of Plant Pathology on December  19 and 20 at Assam Agricultural University (AAU),  Jorhat  under the sponsorship of German-based company Leica Microsystems.
Pranab Dutta, Scientist and the organising secretary of the workshop said that altogether 40 nominated faculties, PhD scholars and project staff of 14 different departments of three colleges and technical officers of  IASST, Guwahati participated in the workshop.
In valedictory session  Dutta said that technique of Fluorescemce and confocal microscopy had extensive application in the scientific and industrial communities and typical applications are in life sciences, semiconductor inspection and materials science etc. Dutta also said that the knowledge would definitely help in answering many questions of  o- going research work on agriculture and allied sectors.
The workshop consisted of lectures on Basic of Fluorescence Microscopy and  Application Basic of Confocal Microscopy, Application, Super- resolution Microscopy as well as hand on training on Application on Leica SPE.
Anupam Banerjee, Application Scientist of Leica Microsystems acted  as workshop trainer.
The inaugural session was graced by  Ashok Bhattacharyya, Director of Research (Agri), Ajit Baishya, Director of Post Graduate Studies and Dr. S. Ali. Professor and Head, Department of Plant Pathology.
