The commander-in-chief (c-in-c) of now disbanded Dimasa rebel outfit Dima Halom Daogah (DHD), Pranab Nunisa was critically injured on Saturday when unidentified gunmen opened fire targeting the former rebel at Nahorbari under Diphu police station in Karbi Anglong district.

Police officials said the miscreants shot at Nunisa at Naharbari around 12 pm when he was on the way to Diphu on a bike. Naharbari is around six kilometres from Diphu, the headquarters of Karbi Anglong district.

“I was travelling on a Royal Enfield bullet towards Diphu and was attacked at Nahorbari,” an injured Nunisa told reporters.

He said he could not identify from which direction he was shot at. Seriously injured Nunisa was immediately admitted to Diphu Civil Hospital and subsequently he was rushed to Guwahati for advance treatment.
