Agartala: The District and Sessions Judge Court of North Tripura District has convicted and sentenced a man to three years of rigorous imprisonment.

This verdict comes after the Tripura Police seized Rs. 20,000 in Fake Indian Currency Notes (FCIN) in 2016.

A press release from the office of North Tripura District Superintendent of Police reads that a case was registered on August 20, 2016, on the basis of a Suo-moto complaint of ASI Swapan Sen of Damcherra Police Station in North District regarding the seizure of Rs. 20,000 Fake Indian Currency Note from the possession of one Sikanjoy Reang @Ramliana (50) of Damcherra, North Tripura.

“Today the District & Sessions Judge, North Tripura, Dharmanagar convicted Sikanjoy Reang @ Ramliana (50) S/o Sri Utarai Reang of Kaskao R/R Camp, Block No. A, PS- Damcherra, North Tripura U/S 489C IPC and sentenced to suffer Rigorous Imprisonment for three years and to pay a fine of Rs. 5000 i.d to suffer further imprisonment for three months”, the press release reads.

The case was investigated by SI Shyam Sankar Reang (CID). On completion of the investigation, one had submitted a Charge-Sheet on September 26, 2017, against the arrested FIR named accused person namely Sikanjoy Reang to face trial in the open court of law.

“On completion of the trial, Ld. District & Sessions Judge, North Tripura, Dharmanagar convicted the accused person as stated above”, it added.
