The sub-committee for revival of Jagiroad and Cachar Paper Mills has decided to release three months’ salary of the employees, before the Mills are being handed over to the private players.

Disclosing this here on Wednesday Minister of State for railways Rajen Gohain said the sub-committee in its meeting on Tuesday has decided to clear at least three months’ salary to the workers.

“The operation and management part of the paper mills will be handed over to such corporate which can also manage at least Rs 9 crore every month as salary of the workers,” Gohain said.

Gohain also ruled out the possibility that the interest of the employees of Jagiroad and Cachar Paper Mills will be overlooked once the private players take over the charge. “It has been ensured that interests of mill workers will not be compromised,” Gohain said.

Gohain on Wednesday discussed the issue with Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Anant G Geete. Gohain had also discussed the issue with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely on Tuesday.

He informed that the management and operation part will be taken over by the private players by May-June.

“The entire process for revival of the paper mills will be over by May-June,” Gohain said.

On Tuesday, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Anant G Geete said Jagiroad (Nagaon) and Cachar paper mills of the Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) will be handed over to the private players.
