An earthquake of 5.0 magnitude rocked Meghalaya, Assam and other northeast India states on Saturday.
People in Shillong, Tura, Guwahati and other major cities of northeast experienced the tremor at 6.17 pm.
The National Centre for Seismology said the epicentre of the earthquake was at a location latitude 26.3 and longitude 90.7, and at a depth of 10 kms.
The location of the epicentre is about 100 kms northeast of Tura in Meghalaya, the National Centre for Seismology reported.
There was no immediate report of any damage.
