The Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) team of Manipur Police on Tuesday arrested one Md Anwar Ali (45) of Lilong Atpukhong under Thoubal district for illegal possession of 335 grams of heroin powder, 715 pieces of Spasmo-Proxyvon (SP) capsules, 1400 numbers of WY (amphetamine) tablets and other incriminating articles, according to a prèss release.

“A case has been registered at NAB-Police Station, Manipur and investigation is on,” said SP (NAB) W Basu Singh who is the PRO of police department in a press release.

“Further, a team of NAB-PS, Manipur arrested two persons Md Najiya Khan alias Apik (29) and Md Sajid Khan (27), both from Lilong Atoukhong respectively for illegal possession of 90 pieces of SP capsules and other incriminating articles on April 10,” the release added.

A case has been registered and investigation is going on.

On the other hand, a combined team of Bishnupur district police commando and 5 J&K Rifles recovered a huge cache of automatic weapons of unknown cadres of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup at Ishok Makha Leikai on April 8 at around 7:30 am, the release added.

During the operation, one AK-56 Rifle fixed butt, four AK-Rifles folding with five numbers of magazine, one A-4 Rifle with UBGL and three numbers of M-16 Rifle with one magazine were recovered from an abandoned fish farm.

A case has been registered at Wangoi police station and investigation is on, it said.

In another development, a combined team of Imphal East Commando and 6 Assam Rifle arrested one active member of the armed group Kangleipak Communist Party-MC (Progressive group) Md.Aslam alias Majit alias Alam alias Anwar (28) of Sora Makha Leikai on April 8 at around 4:50 pm.

He was involved in hurling a hand grenade at DM College in Imphal.

Incriminating articles were seized from his possession, it added.

A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station and investigation is on.

Similarly, a combined team of Imphal West Commando and 5th J&K Rifles also arrested one cader of armed group PREPAK (Pro), Heikrujam Dashubanta alias Chinglen (25) of Sekmaijing Awang Leikai on April 8 at around 4 pm.

A case has been registered at Mayang Imphal police station and investigation is on, it added.
