The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned till January 22 the hearing on the bail plea of Rajiv Bora, an accused of the Rs 30-crore advertisement scam in the Assam’s directorate of  information and public relations (DIPR).

A division bench comprising Justice J Chelameswar and Justice Sanjay Kishen Kaul posted the hearing for January 22. Bora’s counsel on Monday submitted some vital information relating to the case through an affidavit.

Earlier on November 15, 2017, the apex court had granted anticipatory bail to Bora and his wife Anjana Bora in connection with the scam.

The chief minister’s special vigilance cell (CMSVC) had issued arrest warrant against Bora and his wife Anjana besides Dilip Kalita of Delta Publicity and Apurba Lahkar of Pradip Advertising in connection with the scam. Bora and his wife Anjana is the proprietor of Brahmaputra Television Network.

The cm’s special vigilance cell in the FIR has named three advertising firms, Brahmaputra Television Network, Delta Publicity and Pradip Advertisement, for their alleged involvement in the scam.

These firms in collusion with a section of officials of the directorate of information and public relation allegedly siphoned off more than Rs 30 crore in 2015-16 during the previous Congress government.

The CMSVC has already arrested the director of information and public relation Ranjit Gogoi and he is currently being lodged at Guwahati Central Jail.
