Dibyajyoti Deka of Kamrup (Rural) district has emerged champion in the all Assam prize money cycling contest organised by the 65th Sadou Mangaldai Rongali Bihu Celebration Committee here on Sunday.

Dibyajyoti Deka covered the 35 kilometre distance from Baihata Chariali to Mangaldai Gandhi Maidan, the venue of Rongali Bihu clocking the best timing of one hour six minutes and two seconds.

By virtue of this win, Dibyajyoti grabbed the Hasina Begum Memorial running trophy along with the prize money of Rs 12,000.

Pranjal Rabha of Goalpara became first runner-up while Bijay Rathi of the Railways emerged as the second runner-up.

Thus first runner-up Pranjal bagged the Supriya Sarkar memorial trophy and cash prize of Rs 8,000 where as Bijay collected the Youth Club trophy and the prize money of Rs 4000.

Earlier, the competition, where a total of twenty six cyclists from across the state participated, was ceremonially flagged off by the secretary of Mangaldai Sports Association, Anupam Deka.
