Governor of Nagaland, P B Acharya said that the need of the hour was to work towards the development of north-eastern states in the country.

Acharya said this while attending the Deccan Chamber of Commerce Industries & Agriculture Pune Annual Award Function as the chief guest in Pune on September 27 last.

A press release issued by the PRO to Governor stated that Acharya said, “As India gets recognized as a formidable force in the world, there is an urgent need for connecting the north-eastern states, so that there is equal growth in all parts of the country.”

Governor Acharya called on industrialists to play their role in emotional integration and stated that business and commerce have a social responsibility to perform.

He opined that the concept of profit making has changed to corporate responsibility and that it was an era where social issues and problems intersect with business areas.

He also called on the DCCIA to come forward and take pro-active part in the various programmes initiated by the Central Government such as Clean India, Digital India, Start up India and Make in India.

He also congratulated the award recipients and wished them many more years of continued success.

This year four awards for Lifetime Achievement, Award for Excellence – Public Service, Award of Excellence – Best Industrialist and award of Excellence – Social Service were given.

Over the years a quite number of eminent personalities and industry leaders have been the recipient of the awards.
