With promises for a change, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power at Dispur ousting the 15 years Congress rule in Assam.

However, even after two years of change of guard, the people of the State are yet to see any form of changes.

People across the State are still commuting through dilapidated roads and bridges that are no less than death traps.

Like various others places across the State, the scene is no different in Eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

With most of the roads in deplorable condition, people are finding it hard to commute amid numerous potholes in most of the major thoroughfares of the district.

The locals are having a tough time because of the dilapidated state of the eight km stretch of the Madhavpur-Kathalguri-Tingrai road that has turned worse from bad.

With no repair works done over the years, the road has become a tale of woes for the people of the region.

Several vehicles, both big and small travel in this busy road.

The road also plays a vital role for the patients going for treatment at the Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh.

The locals who have shared their tale of woes with Northeast Now have said that it becomes a harrowing experience to transport a patient through this road.

The locals have also alleged that despite repeated pleas and agitations by various organizations time and again have failed to yield any positive result.

With the monsoon just round the corner, the locals have urged the local parliamentarian and legislator to intervene into the matter.

The residents of the region have also threatened to launch a more intense agitation if their demands of repairing the road are not heard.
