The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting on Thursday said that All India Radio (AIR) is broadcasting virtual educational classes in Guwahati for the benefit of the students amid the nationwide lockdown.

AIR Guwahati is broadcasting Viswa-Vidya every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for a duration of 15 minutes, the ministry said.

The programme is being broadcast in collaboration with state council for education research and training and SSA.

AIR and Doordashan are broadcasting virtual classes and other educational content through their regional channels across the country on TV, Radio and YouTube.

“In the absence of school classes, these virtual classes are helping lakhs of students, especially the 10th and 12th standard students in preparation for their board and competitive examinations,” the ministry said in a statement.

Apart from Guwahati, AIR stations are broadcasting virtual classes in Vijaywada, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatire, Puducherry, Madurai, Trivendrum, Tirunelveli, Panaji, Jalgaon, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Parbhani, Aurangabad, Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Gangtok, Bikaner, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur.

Doordarshan Kendras are broadcasting virtual classes in Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir.

On an average, any DD Channel is airing 2.5 hours of educational content daily and any All India Radio channel is airing 30 minutes of educational content daily.

Also, total number of hours of daily content across DD Network is 17 hours and 11 hours across All India Radio network daily, the ministry said.

“The virtual learning through DD and AIR include Curriculum based classes for Primary, Middle and High School level students,” it added.
