Two floors of the Parliament Annexe building has been sealed after an official posted at the Rajya Sabha Secretariat tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

As per reports, the official’s wife and children were also infected by coronavirus.

This is the second case of a coronavirus infection reported from the Parliament’s Annexe building.

Earlier, an official of the Lok Sabha Secretariat working in the editorial and translation (E&T) services department was found positive for COVID-19.

A number of central government offices had been sealed for a day or two after incidents of coronavirus cases were reported from employees working there.

On May 19, the office of union food minister Ram Vilas Paswan in Krishi Bhawan was sealed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

On May 11, Delhi’s Shram Shakti Bhawan was sealed ] after an employee working in the Ministry of Power tested positive for COVID-19.

On May 5, a floor of the Shastri Bhavan, a government building that houses several ministries were partially sealed after an employee working in the law ministry tested positive for COVID-19.

Last month, the Niti Aayog building was also sealed after an employee working there tested positive for COVID-19.

Before Niti Aayog, Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, which houses the Civil Aviation Ministry, was also sealed for sanitisation after a positive case of coronavirus was detected.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 1,65,799 on Friday.

The death toll due to coronavirus in the country is 4706 so far and the number of active cases is 89987.
