The Kokrajhar District Congress Committee took out a cycle rally in protest against the ‘anti-people’ rule by the BJP-led Central and State Governments and the rising hike in prices of petrol, diesel, LPG cylinder and essential commodities.
The cycle protest rally, which was started from the Fakiragram town in Kokrajhar, was also joined by some Congress activists riding a horse cart loaded with a bike.

The protest rally, organized as part of the ‘Betrayal Day’, was joined by Congress leaders like Biswajit Roy, Sib Charan Basumatary and others.
The protesters while riding horse cart shouted slogans like ‘Modi Govt Hai Hai’, ‘BJP Govt Hai Hai’, ‘Sarbananda Sonowal Hai Hai’, ‘Rahul Gandi Zindabad’ by holding cartoons and banners.
Talking to reporters, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) secretary Biswajit Ray, who was a former president of All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU), said, “The Kokrajhar District Congress Committee has organized the cycle rally in protest against the BJP Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who have cheated people of India and the common people have been getting changes (paribartan) of price hike day by day during Modi’s tenure.”
Ray alleged, “In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Modi promised the common people of India that the prices of essential commodities, petrol would come down if they come to power as they would bring back black money, deposited in banks abroad, to India but till now, not a single money (black money) he has been able to bring back to India.”
Urging the people to vote for Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he asserted, “Rahul Gandhi will emerge as the next Prime Minister and Narendra Modi will not come to power due to his false promises to the common people of India.”
