Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi in Haflong.

Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi arrived at Haflong, the district headquarters of Dima Hasao, on a two-day tour in the district on Wednesday.

After arriving at Haflong, the State Governor had a closed-door meeting on the overall security scenario in Dima Hasao district.

After the meeting, Governor Mukhi, in presence of the Principal Secretary of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) had a review meeting with the heads of all the government departments in the district where they had a discussion on various development activities. But the media persons were not allowed to enter the conference hall of the Circuit House where the review meeting was going on.

Most of the media persons after waiting for from 11 am to 1 pm left the Circuit House.

The media persons of the district headquarters have expressed concern over this.

The media persons have questioned what kind of problem would have created if the media persons were allowed to cover the review meeting on development activities.

In Dima Hasao, disregard towards the media persons after being called has become an unwritten rule. Because, there was no result even after requesting Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa to allow the electronic and digital media persons to have footage of the review meeting.

Haflong Press Club President Anup Biswas has expressed grave resentment at this act. Biswas termed this incident that had happened with the media persons during the visit of the Assam Governor as ‘unfortunate’.
