A Christian peace rally in Agartala, just two days after the RSS rally, vows to resist evil forces in the state. Christians on Wednesday organised a peace rally in Agartala and vowed to prevent evil forces from entering the state so that communal harmony and peace prevail in Tripura.
The rally appears to be significant in view of its timing as it was held two days after the rally of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat where he had called for unification of the Hindus. Though, the organiser of the rally claimed that it was a routine event before Christmas and had nothing to do with RSS rally. Immediately after the RSS rally, the Left Front government in Tripura also came down heavily on RSS-BJP for destabilising the communal harmony of the state.
One of the participants of the rally Father Shaji Mandapathikunn said, “As we know the country is facing problems and challenges in different areas, peace as well as harmony to a great extend has been deteriorating and in this context the message of Jesus Christ is very relevant. The more we promote peace and harmony the greater unity and well being will be established.”
He further said, “We have organised rally to insist on peace and harmony irrespective of what we believe in and think about politics.
Interestingly the organisers were all praise for Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar and his ministerial colleagues. They lauded Sarkar as under his leadership the state has grown in peace. In an apparent dig at RSS-BJP they pointed out there are attempts to disturb peace in the state and so all should get united to resist evil and decisive forces from entering Tripura.
Shaji said, “Through this united effort we like to pray for the state government, the governor, our chief minister Manik Sarkar, the other ministers and leaders of other religion and we look forward for the peace in the family, villages and within each one of us.”
The peace rally, organized under the banner of United Christian Forum for Human Right of Tripura, started from Jail Chowmhuni and went through the streets of the capital town.
