A free tailoring training course along with a childline sub-centre was inaugurated at Action for Women and Child Advancement (AWCA) at Lailam Veng in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Tuesday.

Manipur social welfare and cooperation minister Nemcha Kipgen attended the inaugural function of the centre and the course funded by Manipur State Women Development Cooperation.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Nemcha Kigen expressed happiness for the immense support shown by all the people of the district specially the womenfolks.

Assuring that she will always strive towards the welfare and development of the women in all spheres, minister stated that such skill development programmes initiated by AWCA will definitely enhance the economic status of the women and will also contribute in the economy of the state.

Urging all concern stakeholders to utilize the childline at the maximum whenever needs arises and for this cooperation from all the people are a must, she also stressed that the inauguration of Childline sub-centre was the right steps taken up to avoid any forms of crimes against any children.

It may be mentioned that the scheme for this training course is for 40 women for duration of 12 months. Minister also distributed certificate and free tailoring machines to the first batch group of women numbering around 20.

Chairperson S Satyabhama Devi of Manipur state women development corporation, Director Dr Soibam Jibonkumar Singh of Childline, Manipur, District Social Welfare Officer N Binod Singh were also present during the day’s gathering.

Churachandpur Women Organizations and AWCA also jointly facilitated minister Nemcha Kipgen as the first Tribal Woman Minister of Manipur during the occasion.
