A case has been filed against one Upper Divisional Assistant at the office of Joint Director of Health, Lakhimpur on the charges of bogus appointments in the department.

Dr Harpal Singh Suri, the Joint Director of Health filed a case against Khirode Borah, the Upper Divisional Assistant of his office at North Lakhimpur Police Station following instructions by Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr Jeevan B.

The Lakhimpur DC was informed about the complaints submitted by people about the state of irregularities at the district health department concerning bogus appointments. An enquiry committee headed by Dr Sonaram Saikia and Dr Rana Pada Dutta has already been set up by the Joint Director of Health, Lakhimpur to investigate into the complaints of bogus appointments at the health department in the district.

The police so far recovered a number of bogus service books of fourth grade employees of the office during investigation. The accused Khirode Borah has been absconding since Monday. Borah has already earned notoriety following his involvement in creating scans for transfers and promotions of the employees of district health department in Lakhimpur. Durniti Birodhi Yuva Shakti, Asom—a public body had earlier filed cases against 115 employees of Lakhimpur health department for their bogus appointments. The public body has also been complaining complicity shown by the district health department in taking action against the accused persons.
