A BSF jawan from Himachal Pradesh injured in firing in Manipur.

Imphal: A 45-year-old Head constable of the Border Security Force (BSF) from Himachal Pradesh who was on duty at the sensitive area in Manipur sustained a bullet injury in an attack by armed miscreants/militants on Saturday morning.

According to the police report, Som Dutt, 45, the head constable of the 136 Battalion BSF Delta Company deployed at Manipur’s Sugnu village in Kakching district adjacent to the borders of Churachandpur and Chandel districts got a bullet injury on his upper left shoulder at around 7:30 am on Saturday.

The injured individual was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre, Sugnu and later transported to the Raj Medicity Hospital, Imphal.

The Sugnu area came under heavy attacks with bombs and guns from armed miscreants, purportedly from Lailoiphai and Dongyang villages in Churachandpur and Chandel District for the fourth day on Saturday.

Som Dutt is the second BSF Jawan to have sustained a gunshot injury in the area.

On February 15, 2024, another Jawan of the BSF got injuries in a similar attack.
