Lorho S Pfoze, a Member of Parliament (MP) from Manipur, on Sunday appealed to the central government to bring all militant outfits of Manipur to the negotiation table.
“It’s ok that the security agencies are conducting operation, but the government should make efforts to bring all the militant organisations to the negotiation table,” said Pfoze.
Pfoze was referring to the ‘Operation Sunrise’ jointly carried by Myanmar and Indian army to flush out northeastern militants from Myanmar.
Last month, armies of both India and Myanmar carried out a joint operation during which more than 70 militants were believed to have been arrested by the Myanmar army.

Earlier in February, the armies of the two neighbouring countries carried out ‘Operation Sunrise-1’ and several militant camps were destroyed in the first attack.
Pfoze said, “Only a talk can bring a permanent solution.”

He said operation against militants could be a temporary solution “but all of them should be involved in talks.”
The MP has also appealed to the central government to build border roads along Myanmar.
“Well connected roads could increase the border trade between both the countries as well,” he said.
Pfoze expressed concern over the porous border as well.
“There are many areas where there is no fencing and guarding the area is also tough. Taking this advantage, people from across the border also sneak in,” he said.
