Sikkim is emerging as a film shooting destination in recent years with regional to big-budget Bollywood movies being shot in the Himalayan State.

Presently, scenes of a Hindi film Laadki are being shot in various scenic locations of east and north districts since January 31, Sikkim Express reported.

The locations include Yumthang Valley, Lachung and above areas in North Sikkim, and Gnathang Valley in east district.

The film is of suspense-art genre and is produced under the banner of Indian Film Private Ltd, Mumbai. Directed by Mayur Hardas, the lead actors include Shakil, Raj Arjun and Chandni Sharma from Mumbai.

Raj Sitaula, a line producer from Sikkim, in association with Cine Solutions, is also associated with the film being shot here. Laadki also include local artistes from Sikkim. It was informed that the Sikkim-shooting of the film will wrap up on February 15.

Laadki is in the line of films which have been attracted towards Sikkim as a movie shooting destination.

After the success of Yaariyan (2014), Sikkim came into attention of filmmakers based in Mumbai, Kolkata and other film production centres of the country.

Last year, Pahuna produced by Priyanka Chopra and Qarib Qarib Single starring Irrfan Khan were shot in Sikkim.

The year 2018 started with the visit of music legend A.R. Rahman and film producer Bonny Kapoor to Sikkim during the Red Panda Winter Carnival held in January.

Rahman was appointed as the brand ambassador of Sikkim by the State government.
