Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win a majority of seats in the eight Northeastern states in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Singh said that BJP will win at least 20 seats in Northeast of the 25 Lok Sabha seats.

The leader also exuded confidence of winning both the general and reserved seats in Manipur.

“We will win the Outer Manipur constituency seat reserved for the Scheduled Tribes and the Inner constituency general seat,” the Chief Minister told reporters here.

“People have seen how many persons had converged at the public meeting last week which was orgasnised by the BJP during Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s third visit to Manipur,” he said.

Dismissing Singh’s claim, Congress MLA and party president TN Haokip, however, said that the BJP was on its way out.

“During his one hour visit in Imphal, Modi had failed to reply to the 14 questions the Congress had raised in public interest,” Haokip added.
