A day after the BJP-led central government slashed excise duty on petrol and diesel, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has said that fuel prices in India will reduce by at least Rs 50, only if the BJP is completely defeated.

Notably, this statement by the Shiv Sena MP comes just a day after the centre slashed excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively.

However, the centre’s move to slash excise duty on petrol and diesel also comes in the backdrop of its humiliating defeat in the Himachal Pradesh by-polls, where it failed to win even a single seat out of the three Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat that went for by-elections.

“Following BJP’s defeat in the by-polls, the centre reduced fuel prices by Rs 5. If the price has to be brought down by Rs 50, then the BJP must be defeated completely,” Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said.

BJP also failed to win Delgur Assembly by-poll in Maharashtra and the neighbouring Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha seat by-election.

The Shiv Sena MP further said that the mood of the people in the country, this festive season, is down because of high inflation.
