Ruling CPI-M on Thursday alleged that the mandatory B Ed and TET for recruitment of teachers is an evil design towards privatization of education system in the country.
Pointing an accusing finger at the union government, CPI-M state secretary Bijay Dhar said, “B Ed has been made mandatory along with minimum requisite marks and a candidate has to score 60 percent in the TET. There are several other criteria also for recruitment of teachers. The state government has nothing to do with it and due to which we are running short of teachers in our state.”
He was addressing a gathering to celebrate the 73 Jana Siksha Divas here.
Accepting the ground reality that the state government has failed to provide quality education especially in the remote areas of the state Dhar said, “Can we claim that we could provide quality education in the villages like we could in few schools in capital Agartala? Can any nation or government claim that? At least we cannot.”
He further said, “We have objection to the requisite qualification of B Ed for recruitment of teachers as laid down by the centre but we are helpless. All these are sinister design of the central government to privatise the education system in our country.”

CPI-M MP Jitentra Choudhury said with 97 percent of literacy rate Tripura is one of the most literate states and no BJP ruled state is close to this.
“Education is one of the social indicators against the oppression going on in the country. In Tripura, which has achieved cent percent literacy, the awareness level among the population is much higher than any BJP ruled state including Gujarat which is projected as model state in the country,” he added.
Recently the apex court had nullified the appointment of 10,323 teachers of the state government schools for violating the central guideline. These teachers are going to lose their job on December 31 though the court has given them six months extension but as ad-hoc basis and with new contractual appointments.
