Due to the relentless efforts by railway staff, the average speed of goods carrying trains in NF Railway increased by 34.2% from 34.2 Kmph in January-July last year to 46 Kmph.
Informing this, the chief information and public relations officer (CPRO) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Guneet Kaur, said: “The railway staff of Northeast Frontier Railway have been working round the clock to keep the wheels of economy moving.”
“The railway workers performing their duties day and night during the heavy rains, inclement weather or even during the unprecedented situation of Covid19 pandemic,” Kaur said in a statement.
“Due to the dedication and commitment of staffs, railways could contribute to the noble cause of nation-building,” Kaur added.
The railway duty of the station masters, loco-pilots, guards, ticket-checking staff and commercial clerk revolved around train operation. Loco-pilots of the passenger-carrying trains drive the engine of trains carrying thousands of passengers to their destination safely.
“Railway Protection Force (RPF) contributes in a big way by remaining in the forefront apart from providing safety and security of passengers. RPF continues to assist passengers in order to make their journey comfortable.”
“Medical workers provide health care services to the society putting their own lives at risk,” Kaur further said.
Railways also engage P-Way staffs for carrying out regular maintenance and improvement works to enhance safety of train operations. Railway tracks are maintained and inspected on 24×7 basis to ensure that every section is fit for train operations.
The P-Way staffs perform critical maintenance works such as track and sleeper renewal, track tamping, deep screening of ballast, maintenance of bridge, points & crossing, patrolling the railway track and manning the level crossing gates.
Due to the sustained effort of P-Way staff, NF Railway could carry out 121.42 TKm Through Rail Renewal works from January to July, 2021, the statement said.
“NFR could achieve ever highest progress in Through Rail Renewal in July this year as 42.14 TKm,” Kaur further said in the statement.
