Guwahati police has arrested a youth for allegedly molesting a 24-year-old girl on a street of the city’s Rukmini Nagar area.
The police based on a complaint lodged by the girl with Dispur police station have booked the accused identified as Madhusana Rajkumar under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the complainant, she was walking on an isolated street when the accused approached her and allegedly touched her inappropriately.
Following this incident, the complainant on Saturday, took to Facebook and shared her ordeal and tagged the DGP along with the Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajanta Neog on Facebook.
She said that the person, a resident of Panjabari area in Guwahati, approached her while she was walking from the opposite side and enquires about an address.
“On saying I couldn’t hear him, he comes closer to me and asked, ‘Where’s Sinaki Path?’. I suggested very politely that I was unaware and he should ask someone else ahead. No sooner these words came out of my mouth than he groped my private parts in a way that he had a sudden sexual outburst of rage and aggression on my body. For a second I lost sense of what had just happened,” she said in the Facebook post.
Soon after the incident, a team of police from the Dispur police station reached the spot and picked up the accused.
