Within 6 hours of assuming power, will hike Assam tea workers’ wage up to Rs 365: Rahul Gandhi

In a big statement, Rahul Gandhi has said that within six (6) hours of assuming power in Assam, if voted to power, the Congress party will raise the basic daily wage of Assam tea workers up to Rs 365.

Rahul Gandhi made this statement while addressing a massive election rally at Doomdooma in Eastern Assam.

Rahul Gandhi, who is on a 2-day tour of Assam, said that the party will make its ‘guarantee’ of Rs 365 daily wage to tea workers of the State a reality.

“We will make our ‘guarantee’ of Rs 365 daily wage to Assam tea workers a reality,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Raising the daily wage of Assam tea workers up to Rs 365, is one of the ‘guarantees’ that the Congress has been promoting as part of its election campaign agenda for the Assembly polls in the State.

Addressing a rally at Doomdooma, Rahul Gandhi also launched a direct attack on the BJP saying that the saffron party is a threat to the Assamese culture and identity.

“BJP wants to rule Assam from Nagpur. Congress wants to govern Assam according to the wishes of the Assamese people. This election is about saving Assam,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Rahul Gandhi also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘breaking’ the backbone of India’s economy by introducing demonetization.

Rahul Gandhi said that demonetization resulted in shutting down of many small and medium scale industries in the Country which ultimately led to high unemployment rate in the Country.

“Small and medium business owners create jobs, not big entrepreneurs. Demonetization resulted in shutting down of these businesses. This resulted in massive loss of employment,” said Rahul Gandhi.
