One of the senior leaders of ULFA-I, Jibon Asom has decided to return home after being part of the outfit for 30 years. 

The ULFA-Independent leadership has allowed Jibon Asom to return home after the leader requested to retire on “medical grounds”. 

“…With effect rom today, 25/0/2021, you (Jibon Asom) have been relieved from all duties and responsibilities of the organisation (ULFA-I),” said a statement from the ULFA-I. 

“You (Jibon Asom) have been honourably discharged from the organisation,” the ULFA-I statement further read.

 In the statement ULFA-I mentioned that Jibon Asom, a self-styled Major General of ULFA-I, had requested for discharge from the outfit on medical grounds.  

“Your (Jibon Asom) request for discharge from the outfit to acquire treatment upon reaching home and spending rest of your life with your family has been accepted,” the ULFA-I statement further read. 

The statement was issued by ULFA-I chairman Abhijeet Asom.

Jibon Asom was ULFA-I’s senior most functionary who spent around 30 years in the jungles of Myanmar. 

Jibon Asom alias Jibon Moran was associated with ULFA-I as the outfit’s finance secretary. 

Jibon Asom hails from Uban village at Kakopathar in Assam’s Tinsukia’s district.
