Guwahati : Local organizations in Dhing area of Assam ‘s Nagaon district have called for complete shutdown following the horrific gang-rape of a teenage girl by three men on Thursday evening.
The 14-year-old girl was attacked by the men when she was returning home from tuition around 8 PM on Thursday.
The victim, a Class X student, was found in a semi-conscious state lying near a pond with her cycle besides her by some local residents who immediately informed the police.
She was immediately rushed for treatment to Dhing FRU after some local residents spotted her lying completely naked on the road.
The brutality of the attack sparked outrage in the area with protesters coming to the streets and demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

The Dhing Regional Students’ Union of Assam on Friday condemned the horrific incident of rape and announced a complete shutdown of Dhing till all perpetrators are nabbed by the police.
According to the students’ union, all shops, markets, and educational institutions in Dhing will remain closed as a mark of protest.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the DGP to visit the site and take swift action against the accused.

“The horrific incident at Dhing, involving a minor, is a crime against humanity and has struck our collective conscience. We will NOT SPARE anyone & BRING the perpetrators to JUSTICE. I’ve directed @DGPAssamPolice to visit the site and ensure swift action against such monsters,” he said in a post on X.
This horrible incident in the state comes just days after the brutal rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College which has sparked global outrage.
