Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday held a meeting with the representatives of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS).

In the meeting, the CM reviewed the implementation status of various welfare schemes of the state government for the tea community.

“The state government has been taking initiatives for the development of education, health and other sectors concerning the tea community since 2016,” Sonowal said.

He called on the ACMS members to spread the message of different government schemes at the grassroots for the benefit of the community.

Sonowal further informed that the state government has taken steps for conducting a survey of the ceiling surplus lands in the tea gardens.

He urged ACMS to cooperate with the state government to foil the evil designs of vested interest groups who have been trying to spread misinformation regarding the land survey.

“A monitoring group would soon be constituted to check all such activities,” he said.

Speaking at the meeting ACMS president Pawan Singh Ghatowar thanked Sonowal for taking such steps to bring the development of the community.
