Darrang police on Friday imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the district ahead of the publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) on Saturday.
This has been done to prevent the occurrence of any untoward incident in the district.
Assembly of more than four persons in public places, carrying sharp weapons, taking out rallies, blocking roads and shouting of slogans have been banned in the district as per the order.
The order will be in force until the issue of the next order.
Security in the district has also been beefed up ahead of the publication of the NRC on Saturday.
A high-level security review meeting of Darrang police was also held in the district on Thursday, which was attended by senior police officials of the district.
