Noted scholar Bimal Borpatra Gohain has been selected for the prestigious Sukapha Award by the Assam government.
A release by the Cultural Affairs department said that Borpatra Gohain, a researcher and scholar of Tai language, has been selected for the award for the year 2017.
He hails from Simaluguri in Sivasagar district.
The award consists of a cheque of Rs 2 lakh, a sarai, an eri shawl and an appreciation scroll.
The award will be presented to Borpatra Gohain in function to be held at Tipam on the Asom Divas.
