As a salute to the Corona warriors of Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati, the defence ministry has planned to shower flowers from a helicopter on Sunday.

According to defence ministry sources, as a mark of salute to the Corona warriors, a SU-30 will flypast over the Assam State Legislative Assembly complex between 10 AM-11 AM (subjected to weather conditions).

Petals will be showered from a helicopter over Gauhati Medical College Hospital at 10 AM and Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital at 10:30 AM (subjected to weather conditions).

There will also be a band display at the GMCH at 10 AM and at MMCH at 10:30 AM, the defence ministry added.

However, the ministry said: “Any change in the event will be intimated accordingly.”

A large number of doctors, nurses, sanitation workers, police, home guards, delivery boys and media persoonel of the state have been delivering their duties risking lives in the fight against coronavirus (COVID19).

Till date, Assam has registered 42 COVID19 positive cases.

Out of these cases, 32 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery.

The deadly virus has claimed one patient and currently, the state has a total of 9 active cases.

On Friday, 3 COVID19 patients, including 2 from Morigaon and 1 from Golaghat were discharged.
